Sammantha W.

I define myself mostly as a wedding photographer, but the off season gives me a chance to play with new ideas and to show some other kinds of imagery related to wedding photography. One such area is fashion. Knowing how to pose a fashion model is pretty much the same as posing a bride in her bridal gown.

I had the pleasure of meeting Samm a few weeks ago at a lighting workshop in Boston. She was one of several models who came out and worked hard for two days to help build her portfolio while working with about 15 different photographers. I only got a couple of images from those two days of Samm, but I knew I wanted to work with her again. It was obvious that she had some real talent as a model.

We exchanged a few emails talking about another shoot and decided on a theme of high fashion. I worked with her on her posing to really bring out the angles in the shot. A few different wardrobe and lighting changes allowed us to really maximize the time spent shooting to get a variety of looks.

We did the shoot at my studio and I had a new helper, Valerie, a high school senior with an interest in photography. Thanks again to the fabulous Vania Arroyo for her skill with makeup to make Samm look great.
