Julia is a local Boston area attorney who was in need of an updated head shot as well as environmental business portraits. She’s recently accepted a new position and needs the photos for several purposes including presentations, her online bio, and professional networking sites.
After a brief discussion of her needs, we decided it would be best for me to come to her office so that I could get some environmental shots as well as a standard headshot. I had makeup artist Kerri Herlihy join us to do a makeup look that was feminine, clean, and business appropriate.
As for a shot list, we did some shots seated at a conference table, in the reception area, and outside. This variety combined with a couple of different outfits produced a small library of images that both she and her new firm can use now and into the future. Once we were all set to go, the actual time of the shoot was probably less than 30 minutes.
For business related shoots, I’ve found they work best with as much planning as possible. If I can get the chance to scout the location in advance, I’ll know exactly where to setup and what equipment to bring based on the available space and lighting. And for more than one person, sticking to a fixed schedule with a specific shot list will ensure nothing gets left out.
