I recently teamed up with Devin Fitzgerald at Jaguar Fit to do shoot some promotional imagery for his new fitness company. Using ideas borrowed from strength training and yoga, he’s taken a novel approach to fitness that I think will appeal to a lot of people. We had shot previously with fantastic results so when he approached me with the idea I jumped on it.
We wanted the imagery to show a bit of Boston, Devin working with clients, and a few of the poses that he integrates into his workouts. We scouted out a location in Paul Revere park that would show the Zakim bridge, but in an understated way. That presented a bit of a challenge since that meant shooting out in direct mid day sun to get the desired background. To avoid the harsh shadows, I put up a 12×12 silk scrim and lit the subjects from the front with a soft light and a hard rim light in the back via a bounce reflector.
Our models for the day were Devin, his friend Linnea, and Ava, a model from the Maggie agency here in Boston. Makeup for the ladies was done by Kerri Herlihy.
Altogether the shoot took a couple of hours once we got going which feels about right when working outside in the hot sun. We all had a great time on the shoot and I’m looking forward to the next one!
